Overview

The 1-hour course includes mpox and JYNNEOS vaccine information, JYNNEOS composition and safety profile, eligibility criteria, and practical steps storing, preparing and administering the vaccine.

This course is currently funded by Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora and is required for authorised vaccinators and recommended for everyone prescribing or administering the JYNNEOS vaccine.

Registration requirements  

You must:

  • be a health professional with a current annual practicing certificate  
  • hold a current CPR certificate  
  • be currently working at a site where mpox vaccine is administered.

Eligible roles include authorised or pharmacist vaccinators, registered nurses, enrolled nurses, paramedics, other health professionals with prescribing rights.  

Course content

  1. Mpox disease, JYNNEOS vaccine composition, contraindications, precautions and recommendations, and vaccine eligibility, safety and effectiveness.
  1. JYNNEOS vaccine storage, preparation and administration.

Assessment

The assessment is a set of 10 multiple choice questions with 20 minutes to complete.

On completion, you can print out a certificate as evidence of learning.

The course provides 1 hour of continuing professional development. On completion, you can print out a certificate as evidence of learning.
