Overview

Note: From 1 July 2026, fees will apply to some vaccinator training courses, as temporary funding that enabled full fee subsidies from Health New Zealand has ended. Course fees are shown when the course is selected, or you can click here for a table of new course fees, effective from 1 July, and more information. Please note that foundation‑level courses will remain free to support employers and new vaccinators entering the workforce.

This course must be completed within 3 months of enrolment date.

TB BCG initial vaccinator course

This course provides New Zealand authorised vaccinators with the theory and an introduction to the skills for endorsement in tuberculin skin tests and BCG vaccination for the public health management of tuberculosis disease as outlined in the Immunisation Handbook.

Registration requirements

You must:

  • be an authorised vaccinator
  • Must have completed the Vaccinator Foundation Course and achieved Vaccinator authorisation
  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate.

Course content

  • Global Tuberculosis (TB)
  • TB disease outcomes
  • TB prevention
  • Mantoux tuberculin skin testing
  • BCG vaccination

Assessment

The assessment is a set of 30 multiple choice questions with 60 minutes to complete.
