Overview

Our resuscitation course is designed to provide all levels of vaccinators with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively to emergencies in community and healthcare settings. This course has been designed to meet the standards outlined in the New Zealand Immunisation Handbook(Appendix 4.4).

This education offers a blended learning experience, consisting of:

• E-learning - self-paced online modules (approximately 3 hours)

• An online assessment with 20 multiple-choice questions

• A 2-hour in-person workshop.

The online component serves as the theoretical foundation, allowing the workshop to focus on the practical application of life-saving skills.

E-learning course modules:

• Introduction to Basic Life Support (BLS)

• Equipment and Readiness

• CPR Techniques

• Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

• Team-Based Emergency Response

• Recognition and Management of Anaphylaxis

• Choking Incidents

Intended Audience:

All levels of vaccinators who are vaccinating or working towards vaccination certificates. This includes RNs, ENs, pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and Vaccinating Healthcare Workers [VHW]. Competency in using onlinelearning resources to reinforce practical learnings is expected.

 Excluded: 

Some nurses may have employer requirements to complete a higher level of Resuscitation training.

Doctors will require higher-level certification to maintain their professional development requirements.

Paramedics do not typically require CPR refreshers.
